IBENIK GO BACK
ibenik is a wonderful ancient town, situated south from Zadar. The old houses are 'stuck' on the coast rocks. Most of the roofs are brand new which reminds us again of the war. ibenik had industrial areas: one on the south, and another one on the north side. Both was totally bombed, and also the old downtown between the two areas. |
ibenik
szép régi városka, Zadartól délre. A régi házak a sziklás dombra valósággal
"oda vannak ragasztva". A háztetők többségükben vadonatújak,
mivel elpusztultak a délszláv háború idején. A városka mellett fontos iparterületeket bombáztak,
mind a déli, mind az északi oldalon, így a szép óvárost is lerombolták. |
The
Cathedral Sveti Jakov also has new roof and cupola. A funny thing is that
the constructor (Juraj Dalmatinac in the 1400s) decorated the church with
relieves of human faces. |
The
population suffered a lot. During the war, north from Sibenik in the
mountains the Serbians declared the Kraina Republic, which made the
situation even more serious and led to an intensive, widened war in the
whole area. |
