EDFU, KOM OMBO
On the road from
Luxor to Aswan we were stopped by the police, and obliged to drive
in the police convoy (*) with other
tourist buses. We had an own policeman (having a gun)
sitting in our car. The convoy stopped in Edfu, where we visited Temple Horus.
The next stop was Kom Ombo, where we spent one hour in Temple of Sobek and Horus.
police convoy
(*): Since the sorrow event of killing tourists (in Luxor,
1997),
visitors are specially protected by the police and military forces.
(We
usually drove alone, as we had an Egyptian car.)
On the way from
Luxor to Aswan we stopped in Edfu. Temple of Horus is relatively young (built in 237 BC, by Ptolemy). |
