SOUTHERN AFRICA 2004

God's Window  is a nice panorama point in Mpumalanga province.  It was about 1 hour driving to get there.

The road is curving among hills. The tower might be a fire guarding place.

A nice curio shop in the little town of Graskop.

These women are producing African silk.

They use these stuff...

Lush footpath leads to God's Window panorama point.

The surrounding plants are really stunning.

In the parking area local crafts (curios) of good quality are sold.

The fascinating Berlin Waterfalls

Gabor is looking down into the deepness The beauty of the waterfalls was stunning from the top of the cliff. The beautiful Berlin Falls Another curio shop

Blyde River Canyon  is the third largest canyon of the world. The Canyon is one of the most spectacular views in South Africa and its cliffs rise between 600m-800m from the river bed.

Stunning panorama and special plants  Another nice plant We stopped many times at the different viewpoints.

Fresh mountain scenery and magnificent panoramic views.

Water erosion has formed the canyon which is one of the most remarkable geological phenomena

The rondavels are called
'Three Sisters'.

An unforgettable view of three huge rock spirals rising out of the far wall of the Blyde River Canyon. Their tops appear to have a hut-like rounded roof.

We could hardly leave this beautiful place....

Shangana Cultural Village

We visited a tribal village to see the  traditional life of Shangaan people.
Also a traditional dinner was served for the guests (see photos)
After the dinner during the Evening Festival, where choirs, actors and dancers
gather to tell the story of the Shangaan people. (Sorry, but no photos.)

The guests were invited to see Shangana Tribal Village

As starter the followings were served:
Crocodile stew, impala strips, fried mopani worms, and
roasted corn on the cob

This kind of huts were home for Shangaan people.

This was Chief  Soshangana who welcomed the tourist. One of his wives and a kid were sitting next to him.

The tasty tribal dinner was served in rondavels.
