SOUTHERN AFRICA 2004

Birds woke us up in the morning in Camp Aba Huab.

This is a yellow-billed hornbill.

We went to see the Bushman Rockart to Twyfelfontain.

The bushman painted animals on rocks and taught their children everything about wild animals.

Our guide, Rebecca explained how the painting were made.

These are rock engravings, also made by Bushman people.

Interesting stone format

This cave was the home of a Bushman family.

White-painted animals on the darkred rock.

This painting shows the typical cross-legged sitting way of Bushman people.

'Hungry Lion' rock

We climbed the rocks while our car was parking down at the ticket office.

This odoriferous tree was used as perfume by Bushman people. Rocky hills of Damaraland. Rocky landscape in Damaraland.
A large termite mould behind the bush.

An interesting termite mould... :)
The flat-topped mountains reminded us to the Monument Valley.
The most outstanding rock is called Vingerklip (rock finger), which is a well-known landmark of Damaraland.
Taking video from the top of the car....

A papaya tree
Outjo is a nice little town in Damaraland. Elands were standing at the camp entrance gate.
This is Petersburg Wildcamp (by Jannie and Mim Linde). It was really 'wild' and great to stay there.
