ON THE WAY HOME

Find here the last pictures of England (Leicester, Canterbury, Dover) and a few pictures

taken in Germany where we had two nights stop-over at our sisters'. Had a nice dinner and

made a beautiful excursion to the little town Monschau.

The 'way of picnic' in Scotland. Interesting poster...

Leicester.
We stopped here just for a short walk.
The charming downtown has a nice walking area.

The Cathedral of Canterbury is the Mother Church of the
 Anglican Communion,
founded in 597 by St. Augustine.

The Cathedral was rebuilt several times.

Thomas Becket was murdered in the Cathedral in 1170.

Through the cloisters monks could enter the chapter house, refectory, and dormitories as well as the cathedral.

Most of the windows were stolen during the Second Worldwar. All those were replaced up to now.

A view of the English Channel (a photo taken from Dover coast). The famous white cliffs of Dover.

GERMANY - ALSDORF and MONSCHAU

Márta and Gyula received us in their home. We had delicious dinner (Gyros, French fries, tzatziki)  in their big store hall. Beer drinking  in Monschau, where we made a nice excursion.

Monschau (not far from Aachen) is situated in the narrow valley of the River Rur and most of its houses on both sides of the narrow lanes are old buildings. Monschau is famous for its half timbered houses built in the medieval times and its cloth industry. It used to be a rich town therefore there are many mansion houses and four churches.
