SOUTH TUNISIA, SAHARA, MATMATA

South Tunisia. Extremely hot place in July, but people still can live here.
A world of lunar landscapes, magnificent  formats... fantastic sites!

It seems that these desert plants do not require too much water.

A typical house and Berber tent in South Tunisia.

Desert, mosque, donkey, camel...

Matmata. It was extremely hot
(45 Celsius = 113 Fahrenheit)
The typical homes are built under the ground, which are called 'troglodytes'.

Another troglodyte.

This is the bar of 'Luke Skywalker'. The lunar landscape was place  for shooting 'Star Wars'

Can you find the homes in this picture?
Can you imagine the dune dwarfs (Star Wars) jumping here?

A curvy road through the desert mountains.
Have a look on the dinosaur on the hilltop.

Ksar Hensa.
A fortified Berber stronghold consisting of many 'ghorfas'.
(Ghorfa=room used for storing grain, or just used for living)
In this area children have to work. This little girl carried water.
