Stories
|
(1) Kozmann Gusztáv was born in village Mecsekjánosi (South Hungary). His father Joannes Kuzman was the general director of the Mecsek Cool Mines. (2) As an adult, Kozmann Gusztáv might have lived in town Arad, since it was the hometown his first wife Falkenhorsti Pfeifer Mária, and their daughter Ella was born there. (3) Later the family lived in town Debrecen and Kozmann Gusztáv was photographer there. Some of his photos were displayed in an exhibition in Paris, where he won prize.
(4) Information found on the Web: (5) Kozmann Gusztáv's death was caused by an accident: he was reading newspaper and he was smoking at the same time. He fell asleep and his cigarette lit his newspaper. This caused his death. (6) After the death of Kozmann Gusztáv, his wife (Ella’s step mother) was sent to an institute of psychiatry (“lunatic asylum”) by her "loving" relatives, because the relatives wanted to get her properties (How cruel!) |

Photos
Old photos of town Debrecen
In 1988 the Publisher House Csokonai published a brochure with 12 photos of the town. By the end of the 1880s the new style was to show people and street traffic around the monuments. The town photos taken by Kiss Ferenc, Gondy-Egey and Kozmann Gusztáv are really nice and one feels nostalgia while watching those. Two of these series are: the (Calvinist) Main Church Nagytemplom from1910 and Hotel Golden Bull (Aranybika Szálló) from 1900. |
